How do you know when it's time to replace a lawn mower belt?

Last weekend I noticed my lawn mower wasn't cutting evenly, and after checking the blades I realized the drive belt might actually be the problem. There are so many replacement belts available that I'm not sure if it's better to buy an OEM one or try an aftermarket option. Has anyone compared them over a longer period? I'd really appreciate hearing about your personal experience before I order a new belt.

That reminded me of something that happened with my mower earlier this season. I was convinced the blades were worn out, but after replacing them the uneven cutting was still there. A neighbor suggested checking the drive belt, and that ended up solving the issue. While comparing different options, I found https://udcparts.com/ and it helped me narrow down what would actually fit my model. I eventually chose an aftermarket belt, and after several months of regular mowing it's still holding up well without any noticeable problems.
