Anxiety made me avoid crowds for years
Social anxiety kept me out of any large gathering for the better part of a decade, church included. Started seeing a counselor who actually encouraged finding a community rather than avoiding one. Baby steps brought me to researching local options online before committing to showing up. Is the atmosphere here overwhelming for someone who needs a low-key entry point?

I get that completely. My coworker dealt with social anxiety so strong she’d sit in parking lots for 20 minutes debating if she should even walk in anywhere, church included. Her counselor basically told her to aim for “safe exposure,” not big leaps. She started by just watching services online, then eventually tried Bible-based church near me midweek when it’s usually calmer. She said the key wasn’t intensity but the fact people didn’t push her to perform socially before she was ready.
