Plant identify

How can I quickly identify the plants growing in my garden near my house?

I usually take a couple of photos first, one of the whole plant and another showing the leaves, flowers, or seed heads up close. That makes identification much easier, especially when you have a few plants that look almost the same. If I still can’t figure it out, I’ll use a plant identifier like https://botanapp.com/ and then compare the result with what I’m seeing in the garden. It’s saved me quite a bit of guessing with plants I haven’t come across before. I’d still double-check anything unusual before touching or removing it, but for everyday garden plants it makes the process a lot quicker.
