Two painter quotes, big gap
Got two quotes for painting our 1,800 sq ft place in Mesa and they're almost $2,500 apart. One itemized everything, the other just wrote a single number on a card. I don't want to overpay, but I also don't want the cheap guy to skip prep. How do you compare estimates fairly? Any interior painters in Arizona you'd recommend?

Ran into the same thing when we repainted our place in Gilbert. One bid was a number scribbled on paper, the other listed prep, coats, paint brand and trim. The cheap one skipped patching, and my neighbor's job looked rough within a year. Ask both painters to put the same details in writing: how many coats, which paint, what repairs are included. Then compare line by line. I also found this breakdown of typical interior painting prices handy for a sanity check: how much do interior painters charge per room . A $2,500 gap usually means something is missing.
